A veteran city worker is on probation after attacking his children with a baseball bat.

One of Michael E. Wilson Jr.’s sons was struck in the face with the baseball bat and another suffered a broken arm, according to evidence. A daughter was also attacked with the bat, which broke in half, reports said.

Wilson, 38, pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor assault charges. He must undergo anger management training while being on unsupervised probation for a year.

His sons and Angela Russell, the mother of the daughter who was attacked, had requested that Superior Court Judge Howard Manning make Wilson enroll in the anger-management classes.

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy is in stable condition in hospital with a punctured lung and multiple stab wounds after a gang of teenagers attacked him with swords on Thursday evening.

Police are still investigating the attack, but refused to discuss the case yesterday, or say if they have any suspects in custody. Officials believe the boy, whom they would only identify by the pseudonym Jin Ping, was attacked after he tried to break up with his girlfriend.

Jin’s father said the third-year middle school student left home after receiving a phone call at about 7:30pm on Thursday. The father received a call from police about four hours later saying his son had been attacked and was unconscious when he arrived at hospital.

ROME, Italy (Reuters) — Sexually abusing a teenager is less serious a crime if the girl is not a virgin, Italy’s higher court said on Friday in a controversial ruling that immediately drew a barrage of criticism.

The court ruled in favor of a man in his forties, identified only as Marco T., who forced his 14-year old stepdaughter to have oral sex with him after she refused intercourse.

A STUDENT being asked to remove a T-shirt with a lesbian slogan has sparked a protest at a school in Melbourne’s northwest.

About 30 students at Strathmore Secondary College last week rallied behind Year 12 classmate Stephanie, 17, after she was told by teachers to change out of the T-shirt for school photos.

Stephanie, who did not want her surname published, said she had worn a T-shirt bearing the slogan “Nobody knows I’m a lesbian” to school on several occasions without concerns being raised by staff or fellow students.

The question of whether to keep a principal who was suspended after being accused of using school computers to send pornographic pictures is causing mixed emotions in north Georgia.

Pictures of nude women were sent to five faculty members at Union County High School in an e-mail with the caption, “It is large breast appreciation week once again.”

The porn was sent to colleagues on school computers during school hours in Blairsville, Ga.

NEW YORK MILLS — Village police charged a 22-year-old woman Wednesday with endangering the welfare of a child after her 4-year-old son was found at a local grocery store, New York Mills Police Officer Guy Danella said.

The woman was asleep in her home when a citizen shopping at Hapanowicz Market called police to report a young boy shopping alone in the store, Danella said. The caller thought the boy had been left at the store, but police learned he walked more than 1/4-mile from his home to the market, Danella said.

The boy then told police where he lived, and when the officer arrived at the home the exterior and interior doors swung open, Danella said.

The woman told police she was asleep because of medication she was taking and thought the doors were locked, Danella said. She was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in Village Court at a later date.

Jesse J. Evans, 25, of Seneca Turnpike, was charged Sunday with second-degree burglary and harassment and fourth-degree stalking, Trooper Steve Kubat said. A Westmoreland woman filed a complaint with police that an unknown person entered her home and took more than $400, Kubat said. Police said Evans made more than 300 phone calls to the woman during the course of the investigation.

City police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man early today near the intersection of Burnett and Jay streets. Police said David Lee Rudolph, 34, of Utica, was shot in the head at about 1 a.m.
