What type of news was in the 1800's?

I was hit up with a question about two months go, and i recently can’t get it off my mind. This is actually a very strange question, what news reports and such appeared in neewspapers in the late eighteen hundreds? Idk why I want to know this, but I do? Anyone know?

I’ve seen some papers from that era. The papers weren’t that many pages — advertising hadn’t quite taken off yet.

As you’d expect, there was lots and lots of local news, proportionatly speaking. I’m not sure when the wire services were invented, but I would bet the radio of local-to-national stories was higher than it is now. As I recall there were a few texts of speeches.

Sports coverage was pretty small, since it wasn’t nearly as big as it is now. Financial news wasn’t any big deal, and there wasn’t a feature section. So you can imagine what was left.
