Illegal immigrant Guadalupe Perez-Borjorquez is accused of causing a traffic accident that killed 46-year-old mother Nanuma Lavulavu. The sheriff’s deputy says Perez-Borjorquez repeatedly rammed his vehicle, pushing it into traffic and causing a wreck that severed Lavulavu’s leg and caused her death.

Benitez is in the country illegally despite previous convictions of car burglary, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

After an investigation triggered by an anonymous tip, police now confirm that illegal immigrant Oscar Ayala-Cornejo stole the identity of a dead man and used it to infiltrate the Milwaukee police department. Cornejo will spend 6 to 12 months in jail and will then leave the country. His brother, also a police officer, has been assigned to administrative duty after apparently concealing Oscar’s illegal status.

Illegal immigrant Eligio Chia-Duran is accused of molesting an 8-month old baby girl. The baby is paralyzed from the waist down due to injuries she received during the attack. Chia-Duran claimed the charges should be dropped because the arresting officers didn’t inform him he could contact the Mexican embassy.

A rally to protest the rape and murders of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom will take place at the Knoxville Courthouse today. Organizers say the suspects in the case should be charged with hate crimes.

6:21pm Update: Approximately 200 people attended the rally to call for hate crime charges against the suspected murderers. Some counter protesters showed up but were far outnumbered.
A larger third rally that will include participants from the first two is planned for September 2nd.
