Darwin rules. why are the stupid people in this world procreating?
The baby’s mother, Erika Santiago, 27, remains in Northampton County Prison without bail awaiting an October trial on homicide and other charges. The father of 10-month-old Yandiel Rivera-Santiago pleaded guilty in December 2006 to involuntary manslaughter and other charges and was sentenced to 15 to 25 years in state prison.
In April, police received results of tests done on a bottle of formula found in the home at 809 Wyandotte St., Bethlehem police Detective Mark DiLuzio said Thursday. The formula tested positive for heroin, he said.
Autopsy results showed heroin levels in Yandiel’s body were at least twice the lethal adult dosage, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim testified at a June 2006 preliminary hearing for the parents.
Neither Santiago nor the baby’s father, Samuel Rivera, 30, has explained how the heroin got into Yandiel’s stomach or bloodstream.
After Rivera discovered Yandiel in his crib not breathing on the morning of Jan. 13, 2006, he told police, he called 911. When police arrived, they found hundreds of packets and heroin, drug paraphernalia and hidden bundles of cash.
