El Diablo - Isn’t that some sort of Mexican fighting chicken or something?

A man who tried to snatch two little girls from their mothers outside a North County Wal-Mart while referring to himself as “El Diablo” — the devil — is scheduled to be sentenced today.

Under terms of a plea agreement reached in May, 37-year-old Eloy Ambris Garcia is expected to be sent to a state mental hospital for 5 1/2 years. That’s the same amount of time he would have spent in prison on the attempted kidnapping charge to which he pleaded guilty.

However, Judge K. Michael Kirkman warned the defendant that depending on his mental condition, he could remain hospitalized for the rest of his life.

Witnesses in a preliminary hearing testified that Garcia approached members of an extended family when they got off a bus in front of the store on Center Drive in San Marcos.

The mother of one of the children testified that the defendant tugged at her daughter’s hands, saying in Spanish, “I am coming for them, I am the devil.”

Domingo Lorenzo Ramos, 20, an employee with Environmental Water Management in Santa Ana, was clearing dead algae from the pond when the waist-high waders he was wearing apparently filled with water, weighing and pulling him down, said Dean Fryer, a spokesman with The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health.

“It looks like he may have slipped,” Fryer said.

Medical examiner’s investigator James Buckley said Ramos is survived by family in Guadalajara, Mexico. An autopsy will be conducted today.

Police Lt. Kelly Cain said Ramos, who was believed to have been on his first day on the job, was standing in the pond on a 3-ft. lip near a ledge that dropped 14-ft., and possibly stepped off into the deep area.

WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and son were found dead Monday, and police said they were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

WAGA-TV reported investigators believe the 40-year-old Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, and 7-year-old son, Daniel, over the weekend, then himself on Monday. The bodies were found in three rooms.

I am going out on a limb here, but the kid was an honors kid, with only one mistemeanor in his record, which tells me he was under alot of pressure to be perfect.

so when the argument about the whole drug charge thing cropped up, and his mother called the cops, he bounced WAY out of proportion, and thought “screw it, my future is ruined anyway.

I think Ma and Aunti are to blame, so they need to be taught a lesson.” and then he shot the cops by accident. THEN figured he had better off himself..it was the only answer.

A 15-year-old boy who had been arguing with his mother shot at deputies arriving at the family’s home, killing one and seriously wounding the other, authorities said.

The teen, Tyler Dumstorf, was found early Tuesday inside the home, dead of a self-inflicted gunshot, police said.

Prosecutor Keith Henderson said that minutes after the deputies were shot late Monday, Dumstorf posted a message on his MySpace page saying: “I just killed two cops. Goodbye.”

The deputies had gone to the southern Indiana home Monday evening to investigate a call from the teen’s mother about a confrontation with her son.

“There was nothing to indicate to the officers that it was anything more than a routine domestic call,” Henderson said. He said the boy had been due in court Tuesday on a misdemeanor marijuana charge, adding that hearing was part of the discussion with his mother.

As the officers were talking to his mother and an aunt in the driveway, the boy fired from an upstairs window, striking each deputy in the back, Henderson said.

Deputy Frank Denzinger, a four-year veteran of the sheriff’s department, died hours after the shooting, Floyd County Sheriff Darrell Mills said. Deputy Joel White, who has been with the department 17 months, was hospitalized Tuesday in serious condition, Mills said.

Sheriff’s Lt. Frank Loop said the boy’s mother was not injured.

More than 26 million people worldwide have Alzheimer’s disease, and a new forecast says the number will quadruple by 2050. At that rate, one in 85 people will have the brain-destroying disease in 40 years, U.S. researchers conclude.The new estimates, presented Sunday at an Alzheimer’s Association conference in Washington, are not very different from previous projections of the looming global dementia epidemic with the graying of the world’s population.

But they serve as a sobering reminder of the toll to come if scientists cannot find better ways to battle Alzheimer’s and protect aging brains.

“If we can make even modest advances in preventing Alzheimer’s disease, or delay its progression, we could have a huge global public health impact,” said study team leader Ron Brookmeyer of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore.

The biggest jump is projected for densely populated Asia, home of almost half of today’s Alzheimer’s cases, 12.6 million. By 2050, Asia will have 62.8 million of the world’s 106 million Alzheimer’s patients, the study projects.

-A lot of parents don’t know how to discipline a child. The critical period to learn the meaning of NO is age 2-4. He may have parents who are overindulgent wusses (like many parents these days).

-Neglect. The family says “he has been through a lot”, and are admittedly clueless about where he is and what he does. A 13 year old running around unsupervised (long enough to do the things he did) sounds like a pedophile’s dream come true, anyway.

-The child may have a medical or psychiatric condition, which may not have been evaluated or properly diagnosed. If he has even had medical evaluation, it may be that the doctors are clueless or the parents are too cheap or busy to figure out what’s wrong.

If you can check “no” to all three items on the above list, then (and only then) will I believe in the inherent and unexplained evil of a 13 year old.

Paper route? Fuck that. I’m going to make some real money.
