A father and son were convicted of molesting the same girl, who investigators said became pregnant by one of the men.
David Hawn, 43, of Hamilton in northeastern Indiana, was sentenced Friday in DeKalb Superior Court to 40 years in prison for child molesting. In exchange for his guilty plea last month, prosecutors dropped a repeat sex offender charge against him. Hawn was convicted of child molesting in Elkhart County in 1989, according to court documents.
Hawn’s 22-year-old son, Steven L. Hawn, was sentenced last month to 10 years for molesting the girl beginning when she was 13 years old.
Steven Hawn claimed his relationship with the girl was consensual, but court documents said the girl told investigators she entered into a relationship with Steven Hawn to avoid his father.

An 18-year-old woman was given the gift of disgust early Saturday morning when she watched a teen male she dated briefly walk onto her back porch and defecate.
Bremerton police were called from a nearby traffic stop at about 1 a.m. to an apartment building on Russell Road. A woman there told officers that she was smoking a cigarette in a shadow on her porch when she saw a 17-year-old male acquaintance perform the bodily function.
“Are you going to clean that up?” the woman asked the teen, according to police reports.
The teen, appearing intoxicated, ran away as the woman yelled after him, “You are going to clean that up.”

Texas official: ‘Amateurs’ tainted the charges; alleged criminals walk free

MURPHY, Texas - A sting in which police teamed up with “Dateline NBC” to catch online pedophiles was supposed to send a flinty-eyed, Texas-style warning about this Dallas suburb: Don’t mess with Murphy.
Instead, it has turned into a fiasco.
One of the 25 men caught in the sting — a prosecutor from a neighboring county — committed suicide when police came to arrest him.
The Murphy city manager who approved the operation lost his job in the ensuing furor.
And the district attorney is refusing to prosecute any of the men, saying many of the cases were tainted by the involvement of amateurs.
“Certainly these people should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, but the fact that this was all done for television cameras raises some questions,” said Mayor Bret Baldwin.
It is the first time in nine “Dateline NBC: To Catch a Predator” stings across the country in the past year and a half that prosecutors did not pursue charges.

“Dateline” has made prime-time entertainment out of contacting would-be child molesters over the Internet, luring them to a meeting place, and videotaping their humiliating confrontations with reporter Chris Hansen.
“Dateline” works with an activist group called Perverted Justice, which supplies adults who troll Internet chat rooms, posing as underage boys and girls, and try to collect incriminating sex talk.
City manager Craig Sherwood approved such an operation in this well-to-do community of 11,000 after being approached by “Dateline” and Perverted Justice, but he never informed the mayor or the City Council.

The night before Tyler DeLeon turned 7, he was so thirsty he ripped a hole in the screen of his bedroom window to eat snow.
By the next evening, Tyler was dead. He weighed just 28 pounds, the size of an average 2-year-old.
Dehydration is the official cause of death, but authorities think Tyler suffered a variety of abuses at the hands of his adoptive mother, Carole DeLeon, a woman who led a seemingly ordinary life as a paralegal with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Spokane.
Records released this week by the state Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) say that between 1988 and 2005, DeLeon had deprived at least four other adoptive or foster children of food and that she was accused of punishing her biological children by withholding food, as well. Yet DSHS didn’t recognize the pattern until after Tyler died in January 2005.

A 21-year-old Bridgeton Township man who was arrested in March for masturbating in a Wal-Mart dressing room with women’s undergarments and a couple of magazines had an explanation for his behavior in Bucks County Court today.
He was high.
After entering a guilty plea, Joseph Eric Renno told Bucks County Judge Rea Boylan that he had been high on marijuana at the time, and had moved away from his Franconia Township home to get away from bad influences that contributed to the incident.
Boylan said she thought there was probably more to it. She sentenced Renno to 12-months probation, ordered him to stay away from the Wal-Mart and required him to undergo mental health and substance abuse evaluations. Renno will also have to pay $36 in restitution to the store for the ruined undergarments.

A GAY gang that allegedly raped victims lured on the internet, drugged them and infected them with the AIDS virus has shocked the Netherlands and raised questions over its liberal sex culture.A date rape drug known as “Easy Lay” and ecstasy were allegedly involved.
Health Minister Ab Klink called the case “horrible”, as the press splashed the news across its front pages today.
The matter came to light yesterday, when police said they had arrested three men two weeks ago after four victims, men aged 25 to 50, accused them of rape and premeditated bodily harm.
Ronald Zwarter, the police chief in the northern town of Groningen, where the alleged crimes took place, said two of those arrested, a couple aged 48 and 33, had confessed.
“Their stated motive was that it excited them – and also that, the more HIV-infected people there were, the better their chances of unprotected sex,” he said.
“They considered unprotected relations to be ‘pure’.”
A fourth man who allegedly supplied the three suspects with several litres of the date-rape drug GHB and ecstasy tablets was also arrested.
The gang risks up to 16 years in prison.
According to police and prosecutors, eight more victims have come forward since the case was publicised.
Officials said the three HIV-positive men invited gays contacted on the internet to private homosexual orgies.
When the victims turned up, they were allegedly given ecstasy and GHB (which is undetectable when mixed in drinks), leaving them helpless and, in some cases, with no memory of what happened.
The three suspects – one of whom is a male nurse – were said to have raped the men, and even injected some of them with a mix of their contaminated blood.

A Montgomery woman is accused of beating her live-in boyfriend to death with a wooden club on Wednesday and then living in their home for nearly four days as his body lay in a bedroom.
George Mays, 59, was found slain inside his home at 132 Wade St. on Sunday.
Police allege that Peralus Edwards, 35, killed him during a domestic dispute and dragged his body into a bedroom.
Mays’ daughter found him there when she went to the home to check on her father.
“The daughter hadn’t seen him in a while and went by to check on him,” said Lt. Keith Barnett, a Montgomery police detective. “She talked to the suspect and could tell something wasn’t right. She looked around the house and found him.”
The daughter fled across the street to a neighbor’s house and called police, Barnett said. Edwards was taken into custody at the scene.
Edwards has been charged with murder. She remains in the county jail on $50,000 bond.

A judge has ordered a 17-year-old to pay a $750 fine and perform 120 hours of community service for contaminating salad dressing with semen and returning it to a suburban Chicago high school’s cafeteria.
DuPage County Judge Terence Sheen also placed Marco Castro on two years probation Wednesday and ordered him to write a letter of apology to Wheaton North High School officials. Castro must complete his community service work for an agency that works with AIDS patients.
Sheen called the prank “beyond stupid.” “If you prove to me you’re worthy of another chance, in two years, then I will give it to you,” Sheen said.

Deputies booked the mother, Christine Cole, 32, and the aunt, Judy Chamberlain, 33, with second-degree cruelty to a child, Ard said. The mother and aunt of a legally blind 10-year-old boy were booked on cruelty charges after briefly leaving him on the side of a highway because he was misbehaving, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Blind people are almost helpless, and generally anxious in any open space. Leaving a blind ten year old kid beside a highway is fucked up.
The kid was probably terrified.

A 33-year-old woman has been jailed on allegations she exposed herself to her 13-year-old neighbor and made him touch her, police said. Michelle Seddon, unemployed and disabled, was booked into the Washoe County Jail on Thursday on suspicion of lewdness with a child, authorities said.
