A woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to swinging her 4-week-old son like a bat to hit her boyfriend during a fight, fracturing the infant’s skull in the process. Chytoria Graham, 27, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child under a plea agreement with prosecutors.[Baby made a full recovery.]
“Chytoria Graham” never had a chance. What was her mother thinking, “let’s think up a name that will look good at the top of a rap sheet”? I can’t think how this woman’s name would be pronounced other than “shit-toria.” Maybe “chee-to-ria”? A bit better, but not much.

Robbery is never funny. Except when it’s described by Toledo police officers with a peculiar sense of humor. Early this morning, Scott Gibson, 44, was returning from the grocery store with a gallon of milk when, as he told cops, he was surrounded by “5 fat black girls” in the parking lot of a Kentucky Fried Chicken.As described by officers Patrick Sutherland and Kristi Eycke in the below Toledo Police Department incident report, one of the “hefty felons” asked Gibson to surrender his milk. Believing that he was being pranked, Gibson just laughed at the request. But, as cops reported, he realized it was no joke when the “rotund robbers” began “pelting him with a flurry of chubby fists.” After the assailants tore the milk from his hands, they relieved Gibson of his Motorola cell phone. He was unable to provide a detailed description of the attackers, except to estimate that the women were in their twenties. Presumably the quintet slinked off into the night looking for some poor soul carrying a box of Devil Dogs.

The cops are ’stunned’. Jesus wept. For ever and a day the dregs of humanity have “employed” those that are under age since the court systems go easier on them. Not only due to their tender age, but the added mitigating factor that one so young may not have any ‘priors’.
Priscilla Williams, the boy’s mother, said her son was “still kind of afraid for his life” despite Bligen’s arrest. Still “kind of” afraid…is that like being “kind of” pregnant, or “kind of” being an adult that is responsible for their offspring?

The 10 year-old boy wanted a job so he could save enough money to buy a go-cart.
When he skipped out to play with friends, his boss punished him viciously.
His boss, police say, was a drug dealer who had the boy peddling drugs on a street corner. When the boy left his post, the man burned the youngster’s face with cigarettes - more than 50 times in one week. He also burned the boy’s shoulders and lower back, police said.
On Wednesday, St. Petersburg police arrested Robert Bligen, 46, on a charge of aggravated child abuse. Police say he may have employed other children and abused them as well. Bligen was being held at the Pinellas County Jail on $50,000 bail.
Bligen has a criminal record in Florida that reaches back more than 20 years and includes several arrests on drug-related charges.
Priscilla Williams, the boy’s mother, said her son was “still kind of afraid for his life” despite Bligen’s arrest.
She said Bligen abused other children in the neighborhood, but many remain too scared to tell their parents: “They think their child was in a fight, and this man was beating up on them.”
Neighbors described Bligen as an odd man who wandered the streets mumbling to himself. They say he didn’t like people and would cross over to the other side of the street if someone approached him.

Three men charged in connection with a fire at a reputed crack house in New Brunswick are heroes, not criminals, said many people at a public meeting with the RCMP Wednesday night.Dana Russell, one of about 500 residents at a town hall meeting on Grand Manan Island, said the justice system hasn’t been tough enough on drug traffickers, and it’s being too hard on the men accused of attacking the crack house.
“Regardless of what sentence is imposed on these young individuals, never in the minds of Grand Manan people will they ever be considered criminals,” said Russell to applause from the crowd.
The charges against the men stem from a riot on July 22 in which about 40 people — some reportedly armed with guns, knives and baseball bats — burned a house to the ground in the island community of Castalia where drugs were allegedly being sold.
During the melee, four male residents of the home were badly beaten, and a woman was escorted off the island for her own safety. Shots were fired at a car but the driver was not hurt. Several people suffered minor injuries.

A teenager who escaped from Juvenile Hall — and who threatened to kill an Alameda woman unless she worked for him as a prostitute — led police on a foot chase through the Fruitvale BART station Thursday before he was arrested.
Among the charges faced by the 17-year-old, whose name was not disclosed because he is a minor, are making criminal or terrorist threats and robbery because police said he also stole $20 from the victim’s purse.
The 23-year-old woman contacted Alameda police Tuesday, saying she had met the Oakland teenager earlier this month on the popular Internet site, MySpace.com.
After they briefly dated, the teen said to her, “I’m a pimp and you’re going to work for me,” according to Alameda police detective Sgt. Kevin McNiff.
“He also demanded that she give him $300 out of her next paycheck or that he would kill her,” McNiff said.
When police learned the teenager was planning to travel to Alameda from Union City via BART to meet with the woman Thursday, officers planned to arrest him when he exited the Fruitvale station.
But when the teen saw Alameda police Sgt. Hosh Durani approaching him, he allegedly ran off.
Officers pursued the boy through the station’s parking garage and through the inside of the Aloha Club at 952 Fruitvale Ave. before they arrested him.
According to police, the teenager was being held on a robbery charge when he escaped from Juvenile Hall in San Leandro in March.
Other details about the teen and his background were not immediately available.

A 17-year-old girl from Mexico faces a charge of child abandonment after a newborn baby boy was found in a black plastic garbage bag beside a Marysville retention pond, apparently after being tossed over a fence.
Authorities said she was staying with a sister who lives near the retention pond where the baby was found Saturday night by a neighbor.
The baby boy appeared to be just hours old with an umbilical cord still attached and blood on his body. He is recovering at an Everett hospital, officials said.
According to authorities, a woman heard the child’s cries through an open window on Saturday shortly before 11 p.m. She and several neighbors searched the area.
A man eventually found the child wrapped in a garbage bag behind a locked fence surrounding a retaining pond.
“The bag was around its head. The only thing sticking out when I got there was its hand. Its little arm just waving, like ‘come get me’ type thing, you know,” said Mike Wentland, the man who discovered the infant.
Police said the baby was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center. Hospital officials declined to release any information about the infant, citing privacy laws.

Reverse racial discrimination lawsuits are piling up against the village of Hazel Crest.
Three former and one current Hazel Crest police officer have filed suits against the village and Mayor Robert Donaldson; its former police chief, Gary Jones; and village manager Robert Palmer.
All four plaintiffs, who are white, are claiming they were passed up for promotion by a less qualified black candidate.
Most recently filing racial discrimination charges against the village are former Hazel Crest police officer Michael Garofalo, and David Nelson, who is a sergeant on the Hazel Crest force. Both plaintiffs filed on July 7.
Two other former members of the Hazel Crest Police Department, Patrick Murray and Mark Peers, filed separate racial discrimination suits earlier this year.
At issue is the promotion of Malcolm White, a black officer on the Hazel Crest force, who was named in July 2005 as deputy chief of police, commander of support service division.
Each of the four lawsuits allege that White did not meet minimum experience or education qualifications for the position as stated in the village’s employee personnel manual.
According to the lawsuits, White, at the time of his promotion, had not served in a supervisory position. Also, the suit alleges, White did not have a college degree nor “substantial training in police work” at the time of his promotion…

I would smile too if i were him. Between 1977 and june 2006 (29 years), only two black people were ever executed in the state of california. Look it up, its true. Ha ha ha ha, wheeeeee!
It looks like this guy has a chance to die with no regrets. It’s hard to say that about most murderers, since many of them regret dying once the finality of their situation hits them.
A murder defendant who wouldn’t stop smiling was removed from the courtroom before being sentenced to death for killing his former girlfriend.During his trial, Clarence Fry laughed, smiled and at one point ate candy during testimony.
Summit County Common Pleas Judge Patricia Cosgrove repeatedly warned him on Tuesday to stop smirking and making disparaging remarks about his victim. When he did not comply, the judge ordered him out of the courtroom. He watched his sentence imposed through a video link.
“You’re a pure psychopath in the full sense of the word,” the judge told Fry. “You have no conscience.”
Fry, 46, of Akron, was convicted of aggravated murder in the killing of Tamila Hardison, 41, who was stabbed in front of her grandchildren in July 2005. He never denied stabbing her but said lesser charges were warranted because his actions were not premeditated. He claimed he was enraged because she stole things from him.

Brockton High School has banned T-shirts with Sesame Street characters. But these are no regular pictures of Bert and Ernies.On some, Oscar the Grouch emerges from his garbage can, wielding a 9 mm handgun. On others, Bert and Ernie are standing in a gang posture, armed with automatic weapons.
“We were amazed,” said the school’s principal, Susan Szachowicz. “You focus on the Sesame Street character. But the more we looked at it, the more we saw the things in it, the guns, the gang stuff.”
There have only been a few shirts at school, but officials said students are being told to stop to stop wearing them because of the pro-gang message.
School officials also said they violate the school dress policy.
Last week, Brockton was awarded $685,000 in state anti-gang funding.

If an assailant had shot Tammy Skinner in the stomach on the day she was to give birth, killing her baby, he could have been prosecuted.
Because she shot herself earlier this year, however, General District Court Judge James A. Moore decided Monday that she can’t be tried for producing a miscarriage or abortion, and he dismissed the felony charge.
Skinner’s attorney argued at a preliminary hearing that the charge is meant to be used against a third party and that the same offense with similar wording has been tested in courts in both Florida and Georgia and failed. It simply does not govern an expectant mother doing something to herself, Kevin E. Martingayle said.
“We can feel all of the moral outrage in the world for what this woman did,” he said in court, “ but the facts in this particular situation are that this statute does not apply.”
